we dig the grounds of our ancestors
in search of their remains
we want to know how they once lived
of their happiness and pain
but we only scratch the surface
of our own identity still
and it seems to me we always will

we search for life beyond the human race
we search for some small trace
we conquered the moon
then headed for the stars

but we can’t see the horizon
of our own identity
